New London County may be home to two big casinos, but more importantly, it's home to a rich history of agriculture started by Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes who originally cultivated the land in large areas of the state with diverse crops and delicious foods. This work is continued now in North Stonington and other areas with tribal members, but has also been expanded to the include people of all walks of life in the county. The urban gardens in New London thrive under city residents care, and the dairies and vegetable operations continue to grow to meeting the rising need for fresh local food. Whether it is the aquaculture at the coast, or the quiet cattle fields further inland, the county invites you to explore the beauty of agriculture and it's fruits.
